For beginners, we recommend that you practice using the tool from some low places (for example, less than about 1 meter/39.37in).

Guidance: Focus your strength from a pair of "claws" inward. Your hands and body always form a triangle. The clamping force of the claws together with your climbing force helps you move up. Hug the tree and moving up is not the right way. Try to choose trees that are 10 to 20 inches in diameter for practice. If you start learning on very hard-skinned trees, it's hard to do that. Once you have mastered the method, you will climb any tree like a cat.
